The Helmholtz Virtual Institute for Gasification Technology, HVIGasTech is intended to bring together the excellent scientific and engineering competences and research tools of the partner institutes from research centers and universities in Germany and Europe to promote a new level of scientific collaboration in the field of thermo-chemical processes for fuel conversion at high pressure. The research work is primarily focused on the modeling of the gasification process of solid/liquid fuel in an entrained flow reactor. The mathematical description of the multi-phase reacting system at high pressure and temperature in the gasification reactor is the major scientific challenge of the research cooperation. The overall objective of research work will be a knowledge based simulation tool for the design and scale-up of technical entrained flow gasifiers for a wide range of feedstock and products (chemicals, chemical energy carriers, electricity and heat).
The promotion of young scientists working under the umbrella of the research cooperation is a major concern of the HVIGasTech.
